Where it falls short

- The Aventon website advertises a 45 mile range, but their real-world testing says puts it closer to 27 miles. Not a deal breaker, but something to keep in mind if you have a 15+ miles commute.
- The throttle and pedal assist system have a delay of about 1 to 2 seconds before power is produced. I found this to be annoying when crossing a busy city street, the pedal assist didn’t kick in until I was almost all the way across the interaction, rather than immediately upon pressing the throttle.
- It has a rear-hub motor and cadence sensor which gives it a less natural riding feel, my preferred e-bike setup is a mid-drive motor with torque sensor.

The Aventure does come with rain fenders that provide you good coverage from rain and debris. Some people have reported that the front fender may hit your toes on sharp low speed turns, especially if you have larger feet. I didn’t notice an issue with my size 12 shoes.
